Taipei, April 16 (CNA) Taiwan’s Tai Tzu-ying (戴資穎), the world’s top-ranked women’s badminton player, beat second-ranked Carolina Marin of Spain Sunday to win the 2017 World BWF Super Series Singapore Open Badminton Championship.

Tsai subdued Marin 21-15 and 21-15 in two straight sets in the final, winning five super series games in a row.

“I was able to get into pace early in the game and tried to remain patient in every shot,” Tsai told reporters after the win.

“This defensive strategy worked well and Marin made a lot of missteps.”
