to the status of the best of the best in Japan’s professional baseball history, according to a Liberty Times report on Tuesday.
On Monday night, Japan’s TV Asahi broadcast the results of an “overall professional baseball election” with votes casted by 10,000 fans. The fans selected the 30 best players in Japan’s professional baseball history, and the No. 1 player is Wang, who had set a world record by hitting 868 home runs.
Wang’s parents went to Japan to be in business, and Wang has three siblings. Wang began playing baseball when he was in the third or fourth grade. While in high school, Wang became a member of the school’s baseball team. After graduating from high school, he became a professional player in 1959, which was the inception of his brilliant 21-year professional baseball career in Japan. [FULL STORY]
