TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Tests of 78 ice cream and other ice products showed too many bacteria in 34 of them, the Food and Drug Administration said Wednesday.
The results came up after widespread testing of a variety of products containing ice at a range of outlets including coffee shops, fast food restaurants and ice cream parlors across the nation, reports said.
The type of product registering the highest incidence of hygienic problems was shaved ice, with 64.7 percent of the popular type of ice showing poor results, the FDA said. The list also included 47.1 percent of granita beverages, 40 percent of regular ice creams, 33.3 percent of ice cubes and 27.3 percent of other types of product, according to the FDA. [FULL STORY]
