boost team morale, as a record number of Taiwanese athletes will soon head to Rio de Janeiro for the Summer Olympic Games.

Speaking at the national training center in Kaohsiung’s Zuoying district, where top-notch Taiwanese athletes have been in intensive training, Tsai encouraged the athletes to do their best to achieve glory for the nation during the upcoming games, as she presented the national flag and a Chinese Taipei Olympic flag to the team.

Tsai said that a record 59 athletes will compete in 18 sports in the games, proving the nation’s growing athletic presence on the global stage.

Taiwan competes in major international sports events under the name “Chinese Taipei.”     [FULL  STORY]
