President Tsai visited an intelligent manufacturing exhibition in Taichung on Tuesday. She said that, out of the seven industries that the government is looking to transform and upgrade, the smart machinery industry has seen rapid development in the last two years, with its total value now exceeding NT$1 trillion (US$33 billion).

Tsai said intelligent manufacturing is a global trend. She said it is especially important for Taiwan since the country’s low birth rate will mean less professional talent in the future, which puts more demand on automated manufacturing technologies.     [FULL  STORY]
