Tsai urges more Taiwan businesses to embrace Fairtrade

Taipei, April 10 (CNA) President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) encouraged more Taiwanese

enterprises to embrace Fairtrade, promising that the Taiwan government will continue to promote Fairtrade ideas and help educate consumers about social responsibility.

Meeting Fairtrade International’s CEO Dario Soto Abril at the Presidential Office, Tsai praised the international group for its great efforts to prevent less privileged workers and producers from being exploited.

Fairtrade International also helps workers and farmers play a larger role in the global market economy, enabling them to gain more resources which can then be invested to improve education and livelihood in their communities, according to the president.
