Taiwan-based TSMC, the world’s biggest semiconductor foundry, has rejected accusations that it has gained unfair advantages over its rivals in the sector.
A source told Reuters that GlobalFoundries, a US-based semiconductor maker, told the European Commission to investigate the number of measures that TSMC has allegedly used to gain an unfair edge over its competitors. The allegations include offering loyalty discounts and bundled discounts to clients, as well as adding excludable clauses in their contracts.
TSMC responded to the report on Friday. It said the company has always been committed to providing high-tech solutions for its clients, and that it has always respected the rights of its competitors. [FULL STORY]
