A typhoon is forecast to form northwest of Guam and is expected to affect Taiwan next week, which coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival this year, according to a Central Weather Bureau (CWB) forecast Saturday.
The latest forecast shows the tropical storm continues to strengthen over northwest of Guam, and is likely to form into the 14th typhoon this year, Meranti, on late Saturday at the very soonest.
As it continues to move in a northwest direction, the typhoon is expected to affect weather in Taiwan, and will be closest to the island from Tuesday through Thursday, the bureau said. [FULL STORY]
