make landfall in Eastern Taiwan tomorrow.

Weather authorities made the announcement at 2:30 p.m., advising residents in Hualien, Taitung (including Orchid Island and Green Island) to be on guard for strong winds and rainfall.

The storm is gaining strength and should become a Moderate Typhoon by Friday evening, Central Weather Bureau forecaster Wu Wan-hua (伍婉華).

Nesat will bring intermittent showers along the East Coast and push wind speeds as high as 88 kph in north, southeast and central parts of Taiwan Friday afternoon, the weather bureau said.

Its worst effects are expected from Saturday to Monday morning, with strong winds and rainfall across Taiwan.    [FULL  STORY]
