aerosports federation, was sent home Wednesday from the Asian Games in Indonesia after she was found to have impersonated someone to participate in a seminar, according to the Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) in Jakarta.

TETO said Mai was speaking at the seminar on paragliding, expressing concerns about the standards of scoring, when it came to the attention of others there that she had used someone else’s ID to join the seminar, a TETO official said.

Mai, who heads the Chinese Taipei Aerosports Federation, was to be detained but the organizing committee of the Asian Games asked her to leave the country and she departed Wednesday, following the committee’s discussions with TETO, the official said.

According to a United Daily News online report Wednesday, Mai did not have the credentials to attend the seminar since she was not a member of Taiwan’s paragliding team.     [FULL  STORY]
