Taiwanese badminton player Chou Tien-chen advanced to the final eight of the men’s
singles at the 2018 China Open on Thursday.
Chou beat Kantaphon Wangcharoen of Thailand in a match that only lasted 27 minutes and ended 21-14, 21-11 in straight sets. Chou defeated the same opponent at the 2018 Jakarta Palembang Asian Games in August.
Meanwhile, the world’s number one player Tai Tzu-ying of Taiwan was upset by unseeded Gao Fangjie of China in the women’s singles on Wednesday. Chou and the men’s doubles team Chen Hung-ling and Wang Chi-lin are the only Taiwanese still in competition.
The China Open offers prize money of US$1 million. The competition is one of the BWF World Tour Super 1,000 events. [FULL STORY]
