Kaohsiung, Feb. 21 (CNA) Kenyan runners have been invincible in most
marathon races in Taiwan, and the 2016 Kaohsiung Mizuno International Marathon, which took place in the port city Sunday with the participation of around 30,000 foreign and local runners, was no exception.
Charles Kigen Kimutai won the men’s marathon event by completing the 42.125 kilometer-long race in 2 hours, 16 minutes and 21 seconds. His compatriot, Monica Watetu Ndiritu, took victory in the women’s marathon race with a record of 2:37:15.
Kimutai, runner-up in last year’s race, was pleased to snatch the men’s title, though he did not succeed in shattering the Kaohsiung marathon’s record. [FULL STORY]
