Taipei, June 13 (CNA) Taiwan’s top-ranked male tennis player Lu Yen-hsun (盧彥勳) won his first title
of the year on Sunday, outlasting a hard-serving Romanian in the final of the grass-court Surbiton Challenger that had to be finished on an indoor hard court because of rain.
Lu fought off three set points in the second-set to overcome Marius Copil 7-5, 7-6 (11) to take his 23rd ATP Challenger title and improve his ranking from 97th last week to 78th this week.
The match was on serve at 5-4 in the first set when rain came, and the tournament director decided to complete it indoors on a hard surface.
“It was a big challenge for both of us, because you have to play a completely different style. I’m really happy I won the match in the end,” Lu said on his website. [FULL STORY]
