Ma, Tsai attend memorial ceremony for earthquake victims

Taipei, Feb. 12 (CNA) President Ma Ying-jeou (馬英九) and President-elect Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) on Friday separately attended a memorial ceremony in Tainan for people who were killed in a magnitude 6.4 earthquake that struck the southern city of Taiwan on Feb. 6.

Earlier that day, accompanied by Legislative Speaker Su Jia-chyuan (蘇嘉全), Tainan Mayor Lai Ching-te (賴清德) and Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu (陳菊), Tsai also paid a visit to Tainan for the memorial ceremony.

After expressing her sincere sympathies to those killed in the earthquake and their bereaved families at the ceremony, Tsai also posted a condolence message on her Facebook page, saying she wishes the deceased can rest in peace and their relatives can overcome their grief.     [FULL  STORY]
