The event was co-organized by the Yunlin County government and the Republic of China Sports Federation (ROCSF).
The county government said it hoped the event would help encourage martial arts training and exchanges and thus promote physical fitness.
According to the ROCSF, martial arts training was very prevalent in Siluo during the Qing Dynasty or in the early 19th century. At that time, there were three main martial arts sects in the area: Chen Hsing (振興), Chin Hsi (勤習) and Wu Yeh (武野).
