Taipei, Sept. 22 (CNA) More than 700,000 enthusiasts have cast their votes for the top 10 cycle paths in Taiwan since the Sports Administration launched the poll Aug. 13, and eight days before the close of voting, the Sun Moon Lake path in central Taiwan is in the lead.
Leisure cycling is very popular in Taiwan and local governments around the island have developed many cycle paths with convenient accessibility, where riders can appreciate magnificent scenery along the route.
The combined length of the cycle paths in Taiwan is estimated at 4,500 kilometers, and a network connecting all these paths will be completed by the end of this year, according to the Tourism Bureau.
The Sports Administration has selected 32 routes, featuring mountains, lakes, rivers, coastlines, pastoral scenery and urban landscapes. On the event website (http://www.top10cycling.tw), there are introductions to the 32 routes, and voters can choose their 10 most favored routes. [FULL STORY]
