Taipei, Aug. 29 (CNA) Taiwan invested US$2.6 billion in Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member countries last year, the eighth most of any foreign country, according to Ministry of Economic Affairs figures.
Taiwan lagged notably behind China, which invested US$8.2 billion to rank as the fourth biggest source of foreign direct investment (FDI) in ASEAN, and fifth-placed South Korea, which invested US$5.7 billion in the region.
The European Community topped the list of ASEAN’s FDI sources, injecting US$19.7 billion into the region in 2015, followed by the United States (US$17.4 billion) and Japan (US$12.2 billion) [FULL STORY]
