Taiwanese player wins Dubai tennis women’s doubles title

jung (莊佳容), and her partner Darija Jurak of Croatia won the women’s doubles title at the 2016 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on Saturday after defeating the rival pairing in the final of the event with a straight-sets win 6-4 and 6-4.

The Chuang-Jurak pair, a random pairing, won a place to vie for the women’s doubles title with French duo of Kristina Mladenovic and Calorine Garcia, the second seed of the event, after defeating the pairing of Sara Errani from Italy and Carla Suarez Navarro from Spain with 5-7, 7-6 (5) and 10-7 in the semifinals a day earlier.

The French team got a straight-sets win over the pair of Timea Babos from Hungary and Julia Goerges from Germany 6-3 and 6-1 at another match of the semifinals played on Friday.

The championships is a professional tennis tournament organized by Dubai Duty Free and held annually in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on outdoor hardcourts. The inaugural WTA women’s tournament debuted in 2001 as a Premier tournament with a total prize money of US$2 million.   [SOURCE]
