Taipei, May 20 (CNA) Taiwanese Wen Tzu-yun (文姿云) and Gu Shiau-shuang (谷筱霜)
won silver medals Sunday after losing their respective finals at the Karate 1-Series A tournament in Istanbul, Turkey.
Wen, who competed in the women’s kumite 55-kilogram category, lost 2-5 to Taravat Khaksar of Iran in the final.
The performance marked her third medal this year after winning gold in the Karate-1 Premier League event in Dubai and silver in the same series in Rabat, Morocco.
The Taiwanese, who holds the Asian Games title in the 55-kg division, currently has the highest ranking points in her weight category in the Olympic qualification process, according to the World Karate Federation’s (WKF) official website on the Tokyo 2020 Standings. [FULL STORY]
