Taiwan’s Chan sisters crashed out of the second round of the women’s doubles at Wimbledon yesterday, despite a second-set fightback on Court 18 at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in London.

Third seeds Chan Hao-ching and Chan Yung-jan fell to a shock 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 defeat to Serbian duo Jelena Jankovic and Aleksandra Krunic in 1 hour, 53 minutes.

The Serbians saved four of seven break points and converted six of 12, hitting six winners and claiming 94 of the 168 points contested to advance to a third-round clash with either Anna-Lena Groenefeld of Germany and Kveta Peschke of the Czech Republic or 16th seeds Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands and Johanna Larsson of Sweden, who were due to play their second-round match later yesterday.     [FULL  STORY]
