TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Media tycoon Gary Wang was released from prison one year early,
but a court immediately slapped him with restrictions of movement due to another case, reports said Wednesday.
The founder of the Eastern Multimedia Group entered prison in November 2013 after being sentenced to three years and ten months for his participation in his family’s China Rebar scandals, but good behavior allowed his parole to be approved last Friday, with his effective release set for noon Wednesday.
However, just hours after leaving the Taipei Prison, he appeared at the Taipei District Court for a hearing about a case which broke last year, and in which he was accused of having bribed prison officials to give him more lenient treatment. [FULL STORY]
