Vice premier touts productivity upgrade as ‘no-regrets strategy’

Outgoing Vice Premier Duh Tyzz-jiun urged the incoming government Monday to continue promoting a productivity transformation and upgrade, which he described as a “no regrets” policy.

“No matter what industrial policy looks like in the future, there is a strategy that will never cause regrets during political changes. It is transforming and upgrading productivity,” Duh said in response to a call for an improvement in the investment environment.

Liao Wan-lung, the chairman of the Council For Industrial and Commercial Development (CICD), made the call at a CICD-sponsored national congress of business operators in Taipei.

Duh said the government began a Productivity 4.0 initiative last year after seeing a falloff in exports and changes in the international economic environment.     [FULL  STORY]
