Out of left field: Taiwanese baseball player feeling Mother’s Day spirit accepts getting tagged out at home with hug

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Apparently feeling the spirit of Mother’s Day, a Taiwanese baseball player bizarrely accepted getting tagged out at home plate during a game on Sunday (May 12).
During a Chinese Professional Baseball League game held between the Fubon Guardians and the Uni-President Lions on Sunday (Mother’s Day) in New Taipei City’s Xinzhuang District, the Lions were up with a two-run lead in the bottom of the first inning. Fearing that his team’s lead was not enough, Guardians infielder Lin Yi-Chuan (林益全) made a break for home from second base after a teammate hit a ball deep into left field.
Unfortunately, the Lion outfielder’s throw far outpaced Lin, and with several feet to go, catcher Kuo Chun-wei (郭峻偉) had already secured the ball and squatted into position to protect home plate. However, instead of trying to bowl Kuo over, Lin suddenly slowed down and hugged his opponent.
Kuo reciprocated the hug and gently tagged him out, finishing the inning in the process. Kuo then glanced back at Lin as he trotted off the field taking a beat to try and process what had just happened. [FULL STORY]
