Taiwanese shooters claim gold medal at Universiade

Taipei (CNA) Taiwanese shooters Kuo Kuan-Ting (郭冠廷) and Yu Ai-wen (余艾玟) won the 10 meter mixed air pistol gold medal at the 2019 Summer Universiade in Naples Tuesday, Taiwan's third gold medal in the shooting event of this year's Universiade.

The Taiwanese duo bested South Koreans Kim Min Jung (金旼貞) and Park Dae Hoon (朴大勛) 16-10, with Kuo shooting a 10.8 to seal the win in the deciding round with a total of 20.4 against the South Koreans' 20.2.

According to the regulations, shooters of both teams must fire a shot each and the team with the higher combined score will receive two points and one point each in case of a tie. The team that accumulates 16 points first wins.

This year's shooting event at the Naples Universiade has become the biggest "gold mine" for the Taiwanese delegation, with Liu Wan-yu (劉宛渝) and Yang Kun-pi (楊昆弼) both capturing a gold medal in the trap shooting event July 5.    [FULL  STORY]
