Wrath of Pro-Freedom Americans Abruptly Silences China NBA Tantrum

China’s English-language propaganda outlets abruptly ceased publishing outlandish invective against the NBA on Friday, their front pages dominated instead by vitriol against Taiwan and pro-Xi Jinping stories.

The attacks against the NBA peaked on Tuesday, when the Global Times, the most belligerent of Beijing’s state outlets, justified fanatical communists celebrating the mass murder of Americans on September 11, 2001. The Chinese Communist Party reacted with outrage to Daryl Morey, the general manager of the Houston Rockets, publishing a statement on Twitter reading “Fight for freedom, stand with Hong Kong” over the weekend.

Millions of people in Hong Kong have participated in peaceful protests against the Chinese communist regime since June, when Beijing attempted to impose a law on the city allowing it to extradite anyone present in Hong Kong for any alleged crime. Protests have continued as police employed increasingly violent measures to subdue pro-democracy activists, most recently shooting a 14-year-old present at a protest.

Hong Kong police, protesters say, have also engaged in extreme acts of sexual assault against women demanding China obey the laws of Hong Kong, which prevent it from imposing communism on the region.    [FULL  STORY]

home-field advantage as they take on the Brothers Baseball Club, Chinese Professional Baseball League officials announced yesterday on releasing the post-season schedule.

The Brothers had a string of wins down the final stretch last week, winning three out of four games, to clinch the second-half title and a post-season berth.

For the best-of-seven Taiwan Series, the Monkeys are to host the Brothers at the Taoyuan International Stadium for Game 1 on Saturday and Game 2 on Sunday, both with a 5pm start, the officials said.

The Fubon Guardians had a slim chance of grabbing a post-season berth before they lost to the Brothers 3-8 on Tuesday last week. They were eliminated as contenders when the Monkeys thrashed the Brothers 15-4 on Thursday.    [FULL  STORY]

The Chan sisters yesterday crashed out of the doubles at the China Open, while the poor doubles form of fellow Taiwanese Hsieh Su-wei and Barbora Strycova continued into a second week as the top seeds also exited in the second round.

Sixth seeds Chan Hao-ching and Latisha Chan were 5-1 up against Japan’s Shuko Aoyama and Ena Shibahara before their form deserted them and they fell to a 7-5, 6-4 defeat in 1 hour, 39 minutes on the hard courts in Beijing.

The Japanese duo saved 10 of the 14 break points they faced and converted six of 11 to oust the Taiwanese, who have claimed four titles this season, and advance to a quarter-final against second seeds Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic.

Earlier, Hsieh and Strycova fell to a 6-4, 6-4 defeat to unseeded Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia and Dayana Yastremska of Ukraine in 1 hour, 16 minutes.    [FULL  STORY]
